As the title says, International Calls to India to be charged higher according to the proposal made by Indian Mobile Operators Aircel, AirTel, !dea, Vodafone Essar and BSNL. It is said that Foreign Operators pay just Rs. 0.30 on average whereas Indian Operators pay Rs. 3. BSNL has further instigated TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) to charge 10 times the current charge for calls to India. The reason behind this is to simply bring Indian Operators at par with Foreign ones and this could also be utilized to earn foreign exchange.
So, inform your family and friends! Their ‘per minute’ charge would drastically increase depending on TRAI. Or they could just shift to VOIP or Internet Messengers ;)
